Fertility Support
Our Team is trained in assisting patients with unexplained and mechanical infertility. We as therapists are able to assist you in optimizing your body to reproduce.
We can treat the malpositions, trauma, inflammation, restrictions, and give you the best opportunity possible to become pregnant and carry to term. We desire to work closely with your PCP, Endocrinologist, and Fertility Provider - please have this information available when scheduling.
Our goal at South Texas Pelvic Health is to treat all women with the highest quality care and to provide a space for all women to be seen and heard — to challenge the current healthcare system and change the narrative.
Throughout the female life cycle our bodies go through a lot of change, a change that can be unfamiliar to us. In our treatment process, we take a top down AND a bottom up approach to get to the root cause and restore optimal movement.
Our goal at South Texas Pelvic Health is to give you, your mom, your sister, your grandmother, your aunt, and your friend a place where their concerns are heard and questions are answered. We are here to guide you through pre-conception, no conception, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause and beyond.

“We (women) think it’s selfish to make ourselves a priority, but in fact—it’s self-full.” - maya angelou

Common Questions
-
After scheduling your initial evaluation, you will complete the initial intake paperwork. This will include a health and history questionnaire which will give you an opportunity to share your story with your therapist. This will allow them to tailor your evaluation to address your individual needs.
When you arrive at your first visit, together you will discuss in detail your history, current difficulties, priorities, and goals for treatment. From here, your therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation which includes movement and postural analysis as well as a pelvic floor external and internal exam if appropriate. When the exam is complete, you will review the recommended treatment program and answer any questions to help you move forward in your journey to recovery.
You can expect to be heard, seen, and cared for at every session. Each session will be one-on-one with your pelvic therapist. Expect to spend about 75 minutes at your initial evaluation, and 60 minutes at your follow up visits.
-
After a thorough explanation and getting your consent, the exam and treatment can be completed either vaginally or rectally. Using 1-2 gloved and lubricated finger(s), our goal is to assess for muscle tension, coordination, function, identify restrictions and/or asymmetries that may be contributing to your concerns. We do not utilize a speculum. We talk you through the entirety of what we are doing ask for frequent feedback of what you are feeling. Your perception of where the pressure is presenting and at what intensity gives us a lot of information about what the issue may be coming from.
-
While the internal exam and internal treatment are valuable, our therapists have plenty of effective whole-body tools and techniques that don’t involve internal treatment. We value (real) informed consent above all else and you are always in control.
-
It’s NEVER too early or late to address your concerns. This is selfcare at its finest. A few guidelines we follow are 1. We will not address a scar until it is fully closed and healed and 2. There will be no internal body work if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy and for the first few weeks following vaginal delivery. There are lots of treatment avenues and things we can address keeping the total body approach in mind. So whether you are thinking about becoming pregnant, pregnant, immediate postpartum, 6 months out, or 12 years out - we can help you! Email us if you have questions so we can discuss your individualized needs!
-
Whatever you would like! Dress comfortably in something you have freedom to move in - nothing special is required.
-
We are happy to partner with your other healthcare providers. If you have a physician referral, please let us know and bring it to your initial evaluation. If you do not, no worries! Texas is a limited direct access state. This means you can seek out physical therapy with NO referral from another healthcare provider, to include evaluation and treatment for up to 10 days. If we need more time, we can submit your evaluation to be signed by your preferred provider and continue as necessary to get you back to the life you deserve.
-
Yes! Menstruation is a normal part of life and doesn’t usually interfere with treatment. If you’re comfortable, we can still do internal work if warranted. If not, we can adjust the session to focus on external techniques, movement, or other areas of the plan.
-
Yes, absolutely! We love meeting your little ones. When it makes sense, we can even incorporate them into your exercises. If not, we have a kid-friendly play area with toys where they’re welcome to hang out during your session.
